Abstract:

Grids are distributed systems that dynamically coordinate a large number of heterogeneous resources to execute large scale projects involving collaborating teams of scientists, high performance computers, massive data stores, high bandwidth networking, and/or scientific instruments like telescopes, and synchrotrons. Failure in grids is arguably inevitable due to the massive scale and the heterogeneity of grid resources, the distribution of these resources over unreliable networks, the complexity of mechanisms that are needed to integrate such resources into a seamless utility, and the dynamic nature of the grid infrastructure that allows continuous changes to happen. In this thesis, we propose the Recovery-Aware Components (RAC) approach. The RAC approach enables a grid application to tolerate failure reactively and proactively at the level of the smallest and independent execution unit of the application. The approach also combines runtime prediction with a proactive fault tolerance strategy. By managing failure at the smallest execution unit, and combining runtime prediction with a proactive fault tolerance strategy, the RAC approach aims at improving the reliability of the grid application with the least overhead possible.

Abstract:

Network management is challenging. To operate maintain and secure a communication network, network operators must grapple with low level vendor specific configuration to implement complex high level network policies. Despite many previous proposals to make network easier to manage, many solutions to network management problems amount to stop gap solutions because of the difficulty of changing the underlying infrastructure .A new paradigm in networking, software defined networking (SDN)advocates separating the data plane and the control plane, making network switches in a data plane simple packet forwarding devices and leaving a logically centralized software program to control the behaviour of the entire network.

Abstract:

The nodes in an ad hoc network communicate using wireless links which are by nature vulnerable to interference and channel errors that may corrupt some or many data packets. Moreover, the nodes share the physical medium, compete to transmit data packets and suffer collisions. Thus, one of the problems in detecting malicious nodes that drop packets is that it may not be clear as to whether the packet was dropped due to channel errors, collisions, or due to malicious intent. In most detection mechanisms, the number of packets that are not forward is recorded by a passive listener. In this paper we discussed attacks of MANET.

Abstract:

Mobile Ad hoc Networks with large network size and highly dynamic real-time traffic for collaborative data sharing and computation in a VOIP, VoD, or P2P based communication require routing strategies to be designed in terms of different types of data, applications and MANET specific environmental challenges of node mobility, multiple users accessing shared resources, data transfer using multiple hops, and with limitations of link breakages, packet transmission delays, losses etc. In ad hoc networks, routing protocols are challenged with establishing and maintaining multihop routes in the face of mobility, bandwidth limitation and power constraints. In this paper, we study the routing strategies for ad hoc networks. Multicast routes and group membership are obtained on demand to use the network resources efficiently and effectively.

Abstract:

A mobile ad-hoc network is a collection of mobile nodes connected together over a wireless medium without any fixed infrastructure. Unique characteristics of mobile ad-hoc networks such as open peer-to peer network architecture, shared wireless medium and highly dynamic topology, pose various challenges to the security design. Mobile ad-hoc networks lack central administration or control, making them very vulnerable to attacks or disruption by faulty nodes in the absence of any security mechanisms. Also, the wireless channel in a mobile ad-hoc network is accessible to both legitimate network users and malicious attackers. So, the task of finding good solutions for these challenges plays a critical role in achieving the eventual success of mobile ad-hoc networks. In this paper discussed packet routing and dropping, malicious node detection techniques and an experiment in random way test.
